Keep in mind the following when exploring the process for planning effective health communication. As you review campaigns and various elements of specific campaigns, review the bullet points below to develop your perspectives.

· Review background information to define the problem (What messaging/campaigns are already in circulation in the region/community or nationally?)

· Set communication objectives (What do we want to accomplish?)

· Analyze & segment target audiences (Who (target audience) do we want to reach?)

· Develop & pretest message concepts (What messaging do we want to convey?)

· Select communication channels (What modes or messaging channels should be effective and where should the messaging be delivered?)

· Select, create & pretest messages and products (What messages do we want to communicate?)

· Develop promotion plan/production (How do the messages get used or delivered/ communicated?)
