Aim

Choose a Sample Patient with borderline personality disorder with traumatic life event. (Please, include genogram of the Patient)

Target – is to reflexively explore factors that influence the therapeutic relationship and practice in multiple contexts; the individual, family, carers, the environment and systems including organisational and interprofessional contexts. The focus is on extending the student’s understanding of how adverse life events can impact on mental health across the lifespan, developing the student’s cultural competence, therapeutic style and ways of communicating to promote emotional resilience.

       

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify transition points across the life span for potential or actual vulnerability, crisis, trauma or mental illness.
  2. Critically reflect upon relational, systemic and contextual issues that impact upon people with complex mental health needs.
  3. Analyse the components of a trauma informed approach to nursing care across the life course.
  4. Demonstrate a reflexive appreciation of culture and cultural differences that influence communication and therapeutic emotional resilience.
