In the “Teacher’s Voice” portion of the chapter, Korean EFL teacher Minhee Kang asserts that “In order for English learners to prevent a sense of inferiority and possibly cultural abandonment, and to develop a sense of pride and value in their home culture, language teachers should regularly provide a platform for them to explore their views about their home culture [i.e., Korean].” What is your personal response to this statement? Do you think that such a position is equally applicable to the teaching of foreign languages other than English? Explain.

Minhee Kang also argues that FL teachers should “consciously avoid teaching ‘tourist-multiculturalism’.” How can we accomplish this?
