Choose a culture that is different from your own. Attend an event within this culture such as a wedding, cultural celebration, religious service, volunteer at a homeless shelter, attend a speaker or forum, attend a LGBT meeting etc. Prepare a scholarly paper that is 5 pages in length (excluding title page and reference list) describing this event. APA format and references are required. Students should use the Grading Rubric for Graduate Written Assignments which is located in the content section of the course as a guide.

1. Strongly conveys topic and delineates subtopics to be discussed in the body of text in the assignment.
2. Content strongly related to topic; strong organization and integration of content within subtopics; and strong transitions linking subtopics and main topic.
3. Strong scholarly, peer-reviewed support of topic; supporting materials are published within 5-7 years, 2015 or higher, as appropriate.
4. Strong summarization with synthesis and insightful discussion of topic conclusions. No new information is introduced into the conclusion.
5. No grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
6. Writing mechanics are consistent with formal scholarly work.
7. No errors in APA style based upon the required APA manuals listed on the course syllabi.
