Directions for Research Essay:

Research a controversial issue addressed in Lucky Boy (novel by Shanthi Sekaran) and write a claim of policy argument. Include a literary analysis of the section of the book which addresses this issue

In the book Lucky Boy, Soli is an illegal 18 year old girl from Mexico. She gives birth to a son right after entering the U.S. illegally. Her son is taken away from her when she is pulled over by cops. She also is treated very badly when in the prison and is sexually assaulted by the prison guards. You can find more info online about the book. The essay can be about how children are separated from undocumented parents or about how undocumented people are treated badly in prison.
