The Protestant Reformation

First, According to Baumer’s depiction in the introductory essay  what are the key characteristics of Protestantism?
Next, consider the different primary sources you were asked to read. Compare and contrast the ideas presented by Martin Luther (the father of the Protestant Reformation and eventually the head of the Lutheran Church), John Calvin (Calvinism), Menno Simons (Mennonite) and Robert Barclay (Quaker). How are these various Protestant sects similar? What common ideas, impulses, or notions about the world do they share? How are they different? Use evidence from the sources to support your answers.
Finally, Baumer suggests that the Protestant Reformation is both “progressive” and “primitivist” (Baumer, 169). After watching the required material for this week and completing the required readings do you think the Protestant Reformation spurred progressive thought or sought to return to a medieval mindset?
