Technology Update Paper: The technology update paper is an individual assignment that

students need to prepare and submit a paper, due by the end of the fifth module, about a current

or cutting-edge MIS technology breakthrough. The topic can be a new technology, a new company,

an industry trend shifting the balance of power in technology, or a gadget review that interests you.

You are encouraged to run your idea past the professor and start on the paper early. The tech update

will be judged upon how well you present and convince to the instructor that your topic is

important and needs our attention. Late submission is NOT accepted under any circumstance.

The following are the essential elements that will ensure a good grade:

• Analysis Depth ;How well do you use and integrate the information gathered in your

sources?

• Clarity (Is your argument or thesis statement clearly explained?)

• Originality (Is this an argument or concept we’ve seen a lot of before?)

• Added Value (Are you saying something new or different?)

• Overall Write-up Quality (Spelling, grammar, readability)

• 5 – 7 pages, single spaced, font size 12pt
