States of belonging (Inmigration policies, attitudes and inclusion) By Tomas R Jimenez

Using your selected policy book as a guide, the following are suggestions of things to consider while writing your final paper; not all areas will apply to your selected policy book nor is this a complete list of ideas. There may be additional areas you wish to cover in more detail that pertain to the policy theories discussed in the course readings. These additions are acceptable and encouraged. However, the paper MUST address Policy Paradox by Deborah Stone, Public Service Ethics & Constitutional practice by John A. Rohr, and WITH David Mathews in some form.

For instance, how does your author handle the questions of goals (i.e. equity, efficiency, welfare, liberty and/or security)? Are these goals handled more from a polis or market perspective? What about problems (the use of symbols, numbers, causes, interests, and/or decisions)? How are these discussed? Can you evaluate the author’s handling of them based on what you learned in Policy Paradox? What evidence is provided? Are alternative suggested? What criteria are discussed? How are trade offs handled? What about solutions? How did the author tell this story? Would you tell it differently? Why or why not? What was the roll of citizens? How did the administrative state affect the policy outcomes?
