ASSIGNMENT

1) A description/brief explanation of 2-3 ethical standards (not general principles) from the APA Ethics Code that you think are likely to be most challenging for you to manage in your future career.

a. To jump-start your thinking about possible ethical issues you might confront, skim through the ethics-related materials for this class. Also try searching for “ethics” or similar keywords in psychology databases and publications by the APA, such as the Monitor(website: http://www.apa.org/monitor/index.aspx).

2) Choose 2 of the ethical standards you identified (in #1) and develop personalized (to you) scenarios that illustrate how each of these selected ethical standards could be at the heart of an ethical dilemma you think you might experience in the course of your future work.

3) For each scenario, after presenting enough detail to illustrate the ethical dilemma, discuss what you would do to (a) resolve the ethical dilemma you have illustrated and (b) prevent this type of ethical dilemma from arising for you again in the future. In other words, for each scenario, describe a specific set of actions you would take to work through the dilemma in accord with the APA Ethics Code.
