Assignment Instructions
Overview
You have been asked to present to a local community/church gathering to talk about substance abuse and addiction in your community. The group needs to know what they can do as individuals and as a group to address the growing issue. These are concerned adults who want to know more about the problem and how they can help.
Instructions
You will choose to create either a PowerPoint presentation or a pamphlet to be used in presenting to this community or church group. In your Community Support PowerPoint or Pamphlet Assignment, discuss the prevalence of substance abuse and addiction and offer ways that communities can help. Use at least three statistics regarding addiction, and give at least three ideas for how communities can help. The statistics should be explained in the presentation or pamphlet. The information needs to be relevant to the group. The recommendations for helping need to be expanded and discussed in the pamphlet or in the script of the presentation. You should use illustrations and graphics to make your presentation or pamphlet attractive and help the reader or listener to be interested in the information.
Make sure to document your sources in current APA formatting. Sources of information should have been published within the last five years.
PowerPoint Instructions:
Your presentation must be completed in Microsoft PowerPoint and must include the following:
⦁ At least 10 slides (not counting the title slide or reference slide, for a total of at least 12 slides)
⦁ A script (at least 100 words for each slide) as a guide for presenting the information
(Please note—the script should not be part of the slide. It should be in the notes section or in a separate Word file. The viewer should not be seeing this part during the presentation. This is for the person presenting to use.)
⦁ A minimum of 3 statistics and 3 suggestions for community help
⦁ A title slide and a reference slide
Pamphlet Instructions:
Your pamphlet may be constructed in either Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word and must have an attractive, appealing design. It may be bi-fold or tri-fold, 8 ½” X 11” or 8 ½” X 14”, but it must include the following:
⦁ Information on both sides of the paper
⦁ A minimum of 3 statistics with what they mean
⦁ A minimum of 3 suggestions for community help
⦁ A separate reference page to be submitted with the pamphlet.
