Feminism, Postfeminism, and Ideologies of Femininity in Film

Essay 1 (minimum 2,500-3,750 words)

Apply your choice of at least one relevant Communication theory or methodology to analyze a relevant media artifact or media topic. Your analysis must be written clearly and adapted to a scholarly audience. Be sure to use APA style correctly to format your References list, which must include a minimum of 2 scholarly peer-reviewed sources relevant to this course. You also must cite in-text every source in that list, again correctly using APA style.

1. Explains how a relevant artifact(s) is significant, unique, or important.
2. Clearly identifies a relevant theory / methodology and briefly explains why it is the best choice to apply to your artifact(s).
3. Has a clear Argumentative Statement, Purpose, or Research Question.
4. Previews the main points that your analysis will cover.

B. LITERATURE REVIEW (SLO 1, 2, 3, and 4)
1. Briefly summarizes, compares, and contrasts what scholarly sources say about your relevant theory.
2. Briefly summarizes, compares, and contrasts what scholarly sources say about your relevant artifact(s).

C. ANALYSIS (SLO 1, 2, 3, and 4)
1. Identifies at least one thing scholarly sources missed or contradictions about your relevant artifact(s).
2. Applies the theory to your artifact(s) to support your claims.
3. Provides evidence from the artifact(s) to support your claims.
4. Explains how your Analysis addressed the problem you identified in #1.

D. CONCLUSION (SLO 2 and 4)
1. Briefly summarizes your analysis.
2. Briefly summarizes why your analysis is significant / refers back to Thesis Statement.
3. Identifies implications for further research.

E. REFERENCES (SLO 3)
1. Lists minimum number of relevant peer-reviewed sources
2. Correctly uses APA style for all sources in References list
3. Correctly cites all sources in-text, using APA
