Assignment Part One: EHR (Electronic Health Record) Security Issues

Instructions: As a consultant to the HIM Department, you have raised questions regarding threats to data integrity and validity. Your biggest concern focuses on the security issues of paper and electronic health record systems and issues to be considered when converting to an EHR system.

This assignment is a 2–3 page paper that focuses on security issues. In the paper, you will discuss the following:

Compare and contrast at least three security issues between maintenance of paper medical records and EHR.
Discuss at least three requirements and issues need to be considered when doing a conversion to an EHR.
Illustrate and examine the application of:
(a) intrusion detection systems and related technology (i.e., firewalls, client/server model) and
(b) Discover threats to data integrity and validity.
Use three outside references to support your views and requirements.
All outside references need to be in APA format with proper citations.
