Create an entirely new leadership team concept to guide your work as Chief of the BFPD. Moving away from the traditional command staff approach where most all departmental leadership decisions are made by the chief with consultation from his or her leadership team– deputy chiefs, assistant chiefs, commanders and majors – all senior sworn officers. Your new vision is a presidential-like ‘cabinet’ consisting of ten (10) members- each one working outside of the policing sector and having a unique perspective on your community’s needs. These individuals can be of any age, any status, in school or employed, within either the private or public sector. When in place, your cabinet, joined by a liaison from the mayor’s office, your command staff and senior nonsworn staff, will work together to arrive at consensus thinking on best course of action for any issue or problem facing your community and/or your department.

Final Exam document: Create a list of all possible cabinet candidates (as many as you can identify), narrow that list to your top 10, then present the final list and a short paragraph for each one explaining why you chose them. Note: If you identified more than 10, please also provide me with a list of those who did NOT make the cut into your final 10. No accompanying text required with this list.
