Introduce the disease with a brief definition and description.
Discuss the Risk Factors and the connection to the Etiology of the initial injury to the cell/tissue/organ. (What occurs with the disease? Ex; sickle cell- cells sickle due to ….
Show the progression from the initial injury to the defect in the tissue, organ, and system functioning. (what signs & symptoms will the patient present with)
Discuss how the disease is managed. (What treatments do they receive typically?) Summarize, for example, beta-blockers, insulin, and what it does (lowers the blood glucose).
What patient education would you give the patient and/or family? For example: monitor your fluid intake, stay away from environmental factors, etc….
Provide a summary slide that highlights the main points presented in your presentation.
