It is the operations that consume the most of the resources of the organisation – energy, raw materials, packaging etc. Due to increasing pressure from governments and environmental agencies, organisations are being expected to adopt a more sustainable approach to the running of their businesses. Significant improvements in energy and waste reduction can be achieved with a more sustainable approach to the operations of the organisation.

Imagine that you have been appointed as an external environment/sustainability consultant to your chosen UK based healthcare organisation. Your task is to write a 2,500 word report to the CEO with an action plan and recommendations for making the operations more sustainable. The plan must be both engaging and offer realistic ideas for implementation that address the causal factors underlying the issue of concern. Be realistic in your assumptions; do not underestimate where matters might go astray or where complications may occur. Your recommendations should be supported with logic that flows from your problem definition.
