ASSIGNMENT
Overview | Could we have imagined what our lives would look like today? How can we make informed predictions about the future? For our final assignment, you will consider and discuss predictions about topics that we covered this past semester. All material for this assignment will be based off your past assignments, look back on those assignments to help draw conclusions to predict the future.
Topic areas:
- NFTs: Gaming, the metaverse and major companies are seeing the excitement and social impact in using non-fungible tokens, they are looking to explore new strategies and engage new audiences with NFTs, what will happen next?
- Regulations: Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act is constantly under debate. Consider the research we did on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and the wariness of social media’s effects on children, what will happen next with regulations? Will Web 3.0 or micro-blogging sites such as Mastodon change this and/or social media platforms such as Twitter making progress towards change?
- Data Privacy: Phones, apps, software, operating systems, internet browsers, search engines and every device connected to the internet collects data on you. Highlighting the importance of data protection, this will only continue to grow but what will happen next? Will there be new data collection rules and regulations?
- Cryptocurrency: This semester you were assigned a cryptocurrency and invested into that currency in a simulated game. Discuss the importance that your assigned crypto currency has and what the future might be for it. Include the values of your assigned cryptocurrency, starting investment and where it is today and what, if anything, you think the future holds for your cryptocurrency.
