Assignment Title:

Part 1) Explore a communicable disease of your choice
Part 2) Discuss the public health challenges it poses within the geographical area you have identified.

Your assignment should be limited to a clear geographic area in order to analyse more critically the factors underlying the disease and the prevention measures. A structured table of headings for the assignment is in the next section and will include information which should focus upon:

Part 1:
Disease choice – with relevant epidemiology of the disease (who is at risk, why, where etc.)
The disease history with an understanding of biological, social and environmental factors determining the rates of infectious disease
A discussion of disease prevalence e.g. morbidity and mortality rates, using appropriate tables and/or charts.
An exploration of the prevention and control measures used in the country and how these could also affect an international context.

Part 2:
A critical evaluation of current legislation concerning this disease (in the country/nationally)
An argument with recommendations for whether you think there should be changes made to prevention and control measures.
