American Culture Scavenger Hunt

What symbols represent American culture to you? Often it is easier to recognize the symbols of cultures outside of your own. We often don’t take the time to examine the symbols of our own culture. This assignment is asking you to take a moment and consider what symbols represents America or American culture?

DO NOT USE the flag, Statue of Liberty or since 911 the World Trade Towers. What other things call up ideas of America? Is it baseball, the Simpsons, apple pie?

Select something that symbolizes “American” culture to you.
Write up a one paragraph explaining why you selected this object.
NOTE: You cannot use the flag, Statue of Liberty, the world trade center or a map of the US… these are too easy.
Be creative and think outside of the box.

Instructions: Type up a 1 paragraph to 1 page explanation of why you choose your symbol. Include the image with your write up. The scavenger hunt papers must be typed.
