You are required to research one of the presented pathological conditions in detail, critically analysing the radio-graphic imaging appearances of the condition. You should discuss the imaging pathways and demonstrate Optimisation in compliance with the ALARA principle. Using evidence from the literature to support your discussion, you must propose which radio-graphic projections should be acquired in a local departmental protocol to diagnose the selected pathology. Mention can be made to specialist modalities, but no detail is required. The assignment must conclude with an evidence-based proposal for a ‘best practice’ imaging protocols to evaluate the selected pathology.

Your discussion should include (but NOT limited to) the following:

– A detailed description of the pathology and the most common demographic it affects
– Reference to imaging pathways
– Detailed discussion of radio-graphic projections required and justification of each projection
– If an ‘alternative’ projection is required (i.e. projections discussed aren’t the common ones, such as horizontal beam V rolled lateral), discuss the relevance of this
– Detailed discussion of radio-graphic appearance of images, including radio-graphic pathology
– Referenced anonymised radio-graphic images, referred to in the body of the assignment
– Discussion regarding the significance of the pathology and who you would alert of the findings. Are the findings of a medically urgent nature? Why? What are the potential patient outcomes? What is the impact on patient management/care?
– Consideration of the role for further imaging modalities, e.g. CT, MRI, US, NM

Ensure you name your file appropriately, as outlined above.
