#Question 31 What type of sampling they used ( simple random sampling, systematic random sampling, stratified sampling, purposive sampling, or cluster sapling)? Clearly explain your answer regarding the type of sampling it is.

#2 questions: why do you think the sampling is adequate or not? explain.

#7. Explain why you think generalizability is appropriate or not.
#8 is the most important question. Use critical thinking skills to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the sample and sample procedures.

We are only assessing the sample and sampling procedures for this article. The professor wants to know if we understand sampling types and sampling procedures.

Journal Assignment #3: Evaluating Samples

Standard II-G-8-c: Student understands statistical methods used in conducting research and program evaluation.

Standard III-CMHC-I-1: Student understands how to critically evaluate research relevant to the practice of clinical mental health counseling.

For this assignment, construct an APA formatted paper (including title page and reference list) – from two to three pages (double-spaced). After reading Chapter 11 in Houser, please review the article for assignment three posted on the class Moodle site. Answer the following questions for the article in a separate section with an appropriate APA heading. Report the following information (if applicable):

1) type of sample (random, non-random, stratified, convenient….)

2) source of sample (how did they gather their sample? From what pool did they gather? Use specific numbers if available)

3) demographics or description of sample (who was the sample made up of? include actual final sample size)

4) adequacy of sample – in your opinion

5) exclusionary criteria (who was excluded from study?)

6) nature of informed consent – how was it given?

7) sample’s appropriateness for generalizability – Can the findings be generalized? Why or why not?

8) overall strengths and weaknesses of sample and sampling procedure

You will be evaluated based on critical thinking, ability to synthesize, and ability to articulate and defend your position in a professional and concise manner. The more comprehensive you are in addressing all salient features of each study’s sampling procedures and actual nature of the sample, the higher your grade. Hint: Many studies address sampling procedures and sampling demographics in different sections of the journal article.
