The purpose of this project is to decrease the budget the facility – Kaiser Permanente is spending on 1:1 bedside sitters for each patient. The virtual sitter is a remote camera that has a tech sitting in another room and watching up to 8-10 patient’s at one time. They can sound off alarms if a patient is trying to touch or interfere with lines such as IV’s, Foley’s, NG tubes, etc. They can sound alarms off for patient’s who are fall risk and are trying to get out of bed. This alarm is loud enough to hear within a unit floor and that it alerts nursing staff that the patient is behaviorally acting out. This is a cost effective implementation for this hospital to integrate.
