There are two sections to the Module II essay:

SECTION 1: The essay question
-Minimum 350 of your own original words – including the question does not count toward word count
-Minimum of 1 citation each from Chapter 3, 11, and the Cultural Humility video to support
your argument.

SECTION 2: Your personal reactions to Module II
-Minimum 150 of your own original words
Note: Make sure to use Section 1 and Section 2 as headings in your essay.

SECTION 1: The essay question
Several main threads run through the readings and video for Module II:
1 – Ethics codes and legalities counselors must abide by (Chapter 3)
2 – The hot issues in ethics (Chapter 3)
3 – The concepts of etic versus emic approaches to culture and counseling (Chapter 11)
4 – The concept of cultural humility (video)

Explore the ways these threads intertwine by addressing ONE of the following questions.

Optional Question: Complete 10 of the 20 scenarios in Case Study 3.2 and discuss what you
learned. Make sure to connect Chapter 11 and the video in your discussion as well.
