Assignment Brief for CED Two – Placement one

LO3 – To organise, plan and create an evidence matrix that demonstrates how the student has addressed all the requirements of the social work professional capability framework (at the appropriate threshold level for a first placement) and clearly indicates progress towards meeting the Professional Standards for Social Work England.

CED Two is a reflective account focussing on your skill development whilst on placement.
Select one domain from the PCF and provide an in depth analysis and reflection on your development of skill, knowledge and values around that particular domain.
Try to consider how you have developed in relation to the domain from the beginning to the end of your placement
If the evidence you provided for a domain particularly challenged you, this may be a good one to write about.

Apply the general stages of a reflective model to explore this:
Description – which domain you have chosen to focus on and why
Analysis – feelings and thoughts about development in this domain
Evaluation – any positives, negatives, what went well and not so well, any personal barriers
Action – how you will use your learning in future practice

Look at the individual descriptors under each domain and ask yourself what, why, how questions to aid with your reflection.
Here are some questions you might like to consider for the domain as an example but you can choose to reflect on any of the nine domains:

PCF 2 – Values and Ethics
How did you manage to apply the Code of Ethics?
Were your values challenged in any way, such as preconceived ideas about the service user group?
How did you manage situations where there were conflicting or competing values?
How did you demonstrate respectful partnership work/promoting participation?
Were there any issues around maintaining confidentiality and the requirements of professional accountability and information sharing?
