Most big and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies offshore their manufacturing operations, mostly to countries like China and India. This helps to save money in terms of manufacturing costs, but these countries do not always follow FDA standards. Thus, their medications may not have the quality of medications made in the West, and in some cases may be adulterated and impure.
