Select three primary sources for close analysis. Each source should be from a different topic ranging from Week1/2, Week 3, Week 4, and Week 5. Students will evaluate these sources to address this central question:

“How have encounters shaped a multi-cultural experience in the Pacific Northwest?”

Paper format: 4 pages, double spaced, 1” margin, Times New Roman/Cambria.
Introduction that contextualizes the prompt. Consider introducing a theme of movement and encounters.
Use lecture content and course readings to provide an introduction to your sources and the prompt
Your introduction should also offer a thesis statement that outlines your paper and establishes a clear response to the following question “How do these three sources capture a theme of encounters and multi-cultural history?”
In the remaining body paragraphs, students should address the following:
Describe each source. Briefly summarize the purpose of each source.
Describe the context of each source.
Comments on how each source advances your response to the prompt.
What do you learn about PNW history from this source?
What key factors/forces shape experiences?
Compare and contrast the perspective and details offered in each source
Draw connections between each source and course themes/discussions
Offer transitions between paragraphs to improve organization.
Include a conclusion to restate your thesis and offer something new to the discussion.
