08/24/2021 16:18 LO3: Describe legal, ethical and moral concepts in nursing and apply to professional practice, patient safety, and public protection

LO3: NOT MET

Unfortunately you have not considered the legal, ethical and moral concepts relating to an aspect of professional practice. You have considered something that happened to you before doing the course, which does not allow you to meet the learning outcomes. You need to consider something in practice, e.g. poor documentation of a patient you cared for, not communicating care to a patient etc. and then consider the legal implications, the ethical aspects (principles and/or theories should be brought in at this point) and the moral aspects.

LO4: Identify and discuss contemporary NHS policies, guidelines, and clinical governance processes and their application in practice in delivering high quality care for patients and the public

LO4: NOT MET

You are required to consider which local NHS policy e.g. record keeping policy or consent policy and which guideline e.g. NICE guideline was or wasn’t considered in an aspect of care you have provided on placement. You are also required to discuss clinical governance such as training, education, audits, inspections in relation to this to meet this learning outcome.

LO5: Outline different research methods and identify application of evidenced based practice in delivering person centred safe and compassionate care.

LO5: NOT MET

You are required to include a research grid as discussed in the sessions and outlined on Moodle, you have not included one in this submission.

When on placement, a student was informed to assist in feeding a bedbound patient. There was no documentation in the care plan regarding the type of fluids and diet he is on, the food chart was not filled in nor sent to the kitchen. At meal time, the patient was given normal diet which caused him to suffocate.Heimlich manoeuvre was performed and relieved him. Later, it was noted that the patients diet was level 6 and the care home did not mention it. The staff nurses updated patients bedside board and medical notes.
