Description

Select a current educational policy, or part thereof (preferably national or local), that pertains to an area of educational focus you are familiar with eg. Early Childhood Education, Primary science, Behaviour management, Secondary IT, student wellbeing etc. Critically analyse the policy (or part thereof) in terms of its underlying ideological narrative, and its impact in relation to a specific school context of your choice (eg. placement observation). Comment on and critique how the policy was enacted / responded to in this context. Remember there are complex processes at play between policy prescription and professional practice. Draw on scholarly works to guide your analysis of the potential effectiveness of the policy for a school community in relation to the specific context you choose. Clearly you are invited to take a justified, professional and ethical position in this work.

Preference for policy: Inclusion and Wellbeing

1. identify and explain the key elements of a selected educational policy (10%)

2. critique the selected education policy in relation to its ideological position and the specific school context eg. curriculum goals, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment strategies, and how they meet the diverse wellbeing and / or learning needs of students (40%)

3. Identify and discuss features that would indicate measures of effectiveness (30%)

4. recommend possible changes to the existing policy that would benefit the school context (10%)

5. write with clarity and purpose and adhere to standard academic conventions* (10%)
