We have talked about the various forms of discrimination: racism, classism, sexism, and hetero-sexism. Each writer we have read has engaged in some form of participatory citizenship and activism: whether it was in penning their article or participating in a movement for social change. Consider then, with which issue are you most engaged and concerned- and what does it challenge in society? For this paper, in a rare instance, you are allowed to use the first person “I” in discussing:

which – activist group, church organization, charity group, or other such cause would like to be active in.

Which – discriminatory concept does it challenge? For example, is it trying to give women equal opportunities and pay in the workforce? Is it trying to provide meals to the homeless to counter economic disparity? Is it trying to bring equal opportunities in education to impoverished or underprivileged youth?

How – identify and research a group for which you want to work and tell your reader how you intend to get involved and why that matters. You must still conduct outside research and use articles from RCG as you discuss how your participation elates to the themes of this class- however- this is a rare opportunity to be a part of the change you would like to see and to impact the world.
why – is it significant? (Keep questions #1-4 in mind as you craft your thesis statements, because they must still answer: what, how, and why in terms of the paper’s structure)
