ASSIGNMENT

Paragraph 1:

• Describe the specific skills required of the  LVN charge nurse.
• Identify nursing team members, titles, and  roles in a care plan.
• Identify the leadership & management personnel in the clinical setting.

Paragraph 2:

• Observe/demonstrate elements that need to be focused on when receiving and giving a change-of-shift report as a charge nurse.
• Identify/demonstrate time management principles in patient care

Paragraph 3:

• Identify specific institutional policies, regulations, & routines that the LVN needs to clarify when assuming a charge nurse position.
• Identify items that should be considered when assigning tasks & delegating duties.

Paragraph 4:

• Observe team leaders’ strategies for handling common charge nurse problems:
  • When nursing assistants bring problems from home
  • Dealing with demanding/complaining patient family
  • Controlling personal anger in the clinical setting
