⦁ Expand on your reflection using the LEARN format for reflection
⦁ You must use at least 2 relevant pieces of evidence to support your Analysis of the outcome (in the “A” section of the note). Remember there may be evidences used in other parts of your reflection as well.
⦁ Remember, this reflection is to be a step-up from your reflective notes that you have completed earlier in the program; showing more depth and breadth within your reflective practice.

L Look Back – Give a brief overview of the specific moment/situation. Just a sentence of two. You are letting the reader know what event, situation or experience you are going to discuss.  

E Elaborate and describe – Elaborate on the actual time you spent in this situation. Provide a clear description of the event, situation or experience.  What happened? When did it happen? Who was there? How did you feel personally?  Did the situation impact your client care?

A Analyze the outcome. Reflect on this situation. Was it a positive or negative experience? What were your assumptions and what were the end results?  This is the best place to show your critical thinking skills.  Show that you are able to take what you are learning from class and incorporate that into your reflective writing.  This is often the best place to include your supportive evidence.  What does Kozier et al. say with regards to your moment?  Can you integrate a CNO Standard? Is there an interesting article to support your actions, assumptions?  The analysis should be the largest discussion within the reflection.  Don’t forget to consistently link back to your chosen competency.  What does that competency have to do with your moment?

R Reflection/Revised Learning. Provide a description of what you have learned about yourself as a nurse and your role as a nurse as a result of this experience – could be references here too.
Did you like how things turned out in this situation?
N New approach.  Indicate when you expect to try out this new approach. Explain how this experience will influence your nursing practice in the future?
