- You are to research a self-help / support/ treatment group of your choosing. The support group can address any type of addiction including substance and behavioral addiction.
- After researching the program prepare a 3 – 4 page report about the program that covers the following areas
- Thoroughly describe the program. The name of the agency or organization, where it is located address contact information, hours of operation etc.
- What are the requirements for individuals to access this program? Is there an intake process individual should be aware of and prepare for? Does the program have a specific length or is it on going? Is its status for in-patient, out-patient, or offered to the general community?
- Is it free to access, require payments, accept donations? Is there a waiting list, if so how long and how would you support someone on this waiting list?
- How are the programs run, what are the main intentions, desired outcomes, approach and modality of delivery to support individuals accessing this program?
- How accessible is the location?
- Based on your research, if you needed to access this program do you feel it would be beneficial? Explain why.
- As a practitioner, how would you prepare a person you are supporting so that the they would be more likely to attend the group and increase the possibility that they would continue attending after the first visit? Would this support be ongoing, as needed or one time support? Explain why.
