After watching Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma, read an excerpt of an interview with the director (in the file titled Entrevista con Alfonso Cuarón located in this module).
write an essay in English (min. 450 words) reflecting on the movie and reading. Please address the following in your response:
Based on the interview, consider three topics that Cuarón wanted to deal with in his film. How did he end up approaching these subjects or issues in the film? What message or statement do you perceive he conveyed about each? Was the film primarily political or personal in nature?
Guidelines:
Your essay will need to have an introduction paragraph with a clear thesis statement, a main body (where you elaborate your points to back up your thesis statement using details from the movie and reading), and a conclusion paragraph that wraps up what you have discussed. Use at least three direct citations from the interview (left in Spanish, and in italics).
Use descriptions of scenes from the movie and/or visual motifs to support your points. Either right before or right after a citation, include your own observations, hypothesis and/or conclusions making insightful connections.
In other words, make sure the quotes you use clearly support your points and are not just included randomly or as afterthoughts. Type your assignment in an easy to read font such as Calibri or Times New Roman, in 12 point, double spaced. Cite all sources at the end and use in-text citations.
