Use an issue from some (real) current news item that’s been in the news, create an Op-Ed to support or defend what’s going on from the client’s organizational perspective (using the class material on persuasion). A client, for example, might use the Girl Scouts’ annual cookie sales as a venue to discuss the values of teaching “entrepreneurship” in children.
For your assignment’s task (your paper), begin with a brief discussion of the following:

“Who” will be writing the Op-Ed?
What is the Op-Ed designed to do (introduce, motivate, commemorate, explain, inform, entertain, etc.)?

Research a real and appropriate (relevant to your client) newspaper to determine how the client’s Op-Ed should be submitted and what the expected length should be; newspapers often have different length requirements. At the top of the first page, lead with a short paragraph discussing the newspaper you’ve selected, its audience, and its Op-Ed requirements for submission.

Finally, be sure to consider the elements that make them memorable, even powerful or tell a great story; it also is helpful to read and do a side-by-side comparison of Op-Eds in several newspapers to study their purpose, style, and message(s).

Also, remember who issued you this task (assignment) and how you are going to respond (in a business fashion).
