ASSIGNMENT

For short paper #1, you will need to provide an initial definition/explanation of what human security is and specify which country you will be focusing on for the semester. You will also discuss the first set of human security dynamics for your country.

Your paper should include the following:

Part 1: Human Security & Country Identification

• Provide an initial definition of human security
• Explain what human security encompasses
• Specify your country choice and include a very brief background to situate
your choice and where you will begin your discussion for Part 2 (below)

Part 2: Challenges to Human Security – Conflict/Violence

• What kind of conflict/violence has your country experienced?
o Civil war, interstate war, internationalized intrastate war?
