Case Study Paper 1: Independence

Students can use wikipedia or other web sources to help guide them, but these do not count as journalistic or academic sources (this includes items such as a country BBC timeline). At least TWO of those sources should be written by an African author (more than two is of course also acceptable).

1.What would you argue were the main drivers of decolonization and independence in your country?

(a)When did it happen?

(b)Who were the most important political actors (e.g., leaders of anti-colonial movements) and why were they important?

(c)What were the most important events — domestic and international — leading up to independence? Why were these events important in driving decolonization?
