The aim of the paper is to investigate questions about how social science and pedagogical research can be conducted in the field of International and comparative education and demonstrate advanced knowledge of educational research methods with special focus on questions of how collected data can be analyzed. In the course paper assignment the student shall develop and discuss her or his understanding on how data can be analysed according to literature on research methodology. The student will need to demonstrate in line with a specific example how such an analysis can be conducted. In the assignment the following questions need to be discussed and argued for:

– Why is a specific methodological approach and a method of analysis promising in relation to an overall research purpose and according to a specific research tradition?

– How can exemplified data (your own collected or secondary) be analysed in detail according to the chosen tradition and why is this more promising than other possible choices?

– How are quality criteria for the chosen study considered including research ethics?
