Write a reflective essay to discuss your own experience of the online discussions. Specifically, you will take one incident from a discussion forum that has caused you to think more deeply about your own cultural beliefs or values.

• What your essay needs to include: o Introduction paragraph consisting of a sentence or two to set the scene for what will be covered in the essay. (No abstract required)

o Describe a specific incident/interaction/exchange which occurred during your online discussions briefly and clearly including your contribution to the interaction. Direct quotes are acceptable, but this should NOT be a full transcript of the exchange.

o Describe how you understood the situation (e.g., I thought …) and also describe your emotional experience of the incident (e.g., I felt …).

o Analyse your thoughts and feeling to construct a personal theory that

helps you understand the incident or interaction. (i.e., what are your thoughts and ideas about the way things should be?) Explain how your cultural influences and experiences have contributed to your personal theory (refer to cultural diagram)

o Construct and include a cultural diagram (appropriately placed and correctly labelled)

o Describe a psychological theory/construct (covered in this course)

relevant to the incident and use the theory/construct to explain your reaction and behaviour. Make the link between your personal theory and the theory/construct

o Reflect on and explain what you have learned from integrating the theory/construct and personal theory. (e.g., I have learned …)

o Outline at least two strategies you can use for altering beliefs and/or future behaviour (expressed in concrete and specific terms).
