Sergeants Major are responsible for providing timely and accurate advice to the commander in all matters related to Soldiers in the organization, as well as mission related input and concerns. Knowing the organization needs, strengths, and weaknesses is critical when it comes to equipping the organization with the sources for sustainment and success. The purpose of this essay is to submit why as a SGM/CSM you must have an understanding of the organization to ensure the units have what they needs to be mission ready.
