You will write an expository essay on any topic relating to a myth we have discussed in class (outside topics can be accepted pending my approval). The expository essay requires that you to investigate an idea, evaluate evidence, expound on the idea, and set forth an argument concerning that idea in a clear and concise manner. The paper should include a thesis statement, exposition of the topic, and arguments supporting your position. Papers will be graded according to understanding, insight, originality, organization and clarity of expression.

(1) Please type and double-space your essay.

(2) The paper should not exceed 5 pages, excluding bibliography. There is no minimum page requirement, but lack of development will detract from your grade.

(3) Please write your name on the essay. Be sure it’s there!

(4) The essay should conform to MLA formatting requirements.
