- Research essay : write an in-depth research essay on a specific case study of Indigenous peoples’ struggle for Indigenous rights.
This research essay will address a specific Indigenous group’s struggle – being Australian Indigenous people with disability, to protect their culture, health (really important to include this) and connection to country.
It will present a particular emphasis on the recognition and protections recognised under domestic and international legislation and treaties such as the Disability Discrimination Act and the UN CRPD.
It will explore Indigenous people with disability in activism and petitioning and relate these aspects of indigenous agency to an international, regional and national context relevant to the struggle for a self-determined outcome.
The essay will explore how this struggle relates to colonisation and to the governments that were involved and will contextualise this struggle in relation to international law.
