Read King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” (attached as PDF) and the analysis of its kairos shifting on p. 21-28 (attached as PDF). The authors of our textbook describe how King takes the occasion and shifts the question/purpose of the argument throughout his letter. Keep the checklist for analyzing Rogerian argument from chapter 10 in mind (attached as file) as your read King’s letter and annotate relevant examples of a Rogerian approach as you read.
Finally, in a response of 300 words (take more if needed), identify specific spots in the letter where King’s rhetoric could be called Rogerian, quote them, and explain what Rogerian elements they exemplify.
